Favorite Workspace Components

I can't believe I'm the first person to suggest/request having the ability to have favoriteworkspacecomponents in adobeanalytics  Yes, it's nice having the top 5 components I've used in the past show on in each list, but how about a Rogue's Gallery of the components I'm going to throw into a Dashboard?

Sure, I'm not always going to open a template dashboard with pre-built panels, because not all of us think like that, so having a floating palette like one would use in Adobe PhotoShop to drag my most-used Dimensions, Metrics, Segments, and Date Ranges would be an invaluable tool for me when I'm wanting to quickly build reports and then swap in and swap out metrics as they are relevant to me for reporting.  That way, I'm not constantly hunting for things in the Search area.

Perhaps you could even provide component-specific functionality that, when selected, the user could then perform the same functions they are currently able to do, like selecting specific values from a Dimension and dragging them into tables.

Hi Jeff - thanks for the feedback.  Good news - you actually can favorite (or tag/approve) components in the left rail in Workspace.  Select one or more components, and then a few icons will appear at the top of the rail.  Right-click also provides you with a context menu for the same.

Oooo!!  Very nice.  I'm going to have to play around with that and see what I can do.  Still looking forward to a more dynamic tool like the palette I suggested.

Very MUCH appreciated.

@bgeorge_adobe - Two pieces of feedback:

  1. At this moment in time, it appears marking a component as a "favorite" has no effect in the functionality as of yet, other than giving the user the capability to filter on Favorite segments on the actual Segment Manager page - not really what I was looking for.  Sorry to be a spoiled sport, but I was hoping to see something that worked for me within Workspace, which I assume you're using this as a first step toward doing just that, so I'm doing my best to be patient.
  2. The second piece has to do with aesthetics, and to me, this feels like an opposites thing.  When I mark something as favorite, it makes the start HOLLOW.  So, that's exactly opposite of the functionality your developers just used for a Favorite Workspace.  Consistency would definitely be good to agree on, but even more so, having some universal colors involved (l don't know - like yellow?) to let us know I just marked an item as a Favorite, would definitely help.

I know you like your subtle interfaces, but sometimes using the KISS principle just seems to work.  Don't overthink it guys, just let the Force guide you, and don't fight it.  We're all in this together.

Thanks again for all of the amazing work you do!
