How To Enable Search Synonyms In Aem With Lucene? by albinsblog Abstract HOW TO ENABLE SEARCH SYNONYMS IN AEM WITH LUCENE? In this video let us see how to enable search synonyms in AEM with Lucene. Synonyms are used to inform the search engine that searching for one word should also search for others. The analyzer should be configured for custom oak index to support the search synonyms. There are two possible formats for the dictionary: 1,wordnet: based on the popular Wordnet community. This required the synonyms configuration in specific format 2.solr: it’s more plain text. Comma separated values The synonym.txt file is a simple comma-separated list of synonyms. All matching terms should exist in a single row. Any word that is searched in the row will match all other words in that same row. Common uses for Synonyms are matching on variations of a word. Diagrams of How AEM Solr/Mongo UGC (MSRP) Works by Jetteroheller Blog Abstract When the AEM 6.1 Communities functionality was first released about 4 years ago, I’d just created my first blog post with AEM architecture diagrams for the Rackspace blog, and promised all my teammates that I would TOTALLY create some great diagrams of how the Adobe Experience Manager / Solr / Mongo / Sling Distribution setup worked. Well, now here we are a few versions later, and in the intervening years I’ve made still further promises to co-workers to make some understandable diagrams of how this all works. Well, sorry team, I’m finally catching up my backlog. First: Understanding the Problem of UGC on AEM In AEM (with the exception of the new AEM as a Cloud service) each Publish instance keeps an entire copy of ALL of the content a user could possibly want to see, with the exception of things like – say – a custom on-site search engine like Sinequa or Solr, or a Commerce engine like Hybris. So, if yo

Protect SSH Server from Brute Force Attack by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Protect SSH Server from Brute Force Attack Other than remote login, there are various useful things you can do with ssh, like running a remote command, multiplexing connections to save on server resources, setting up ssh aliases to save you some keystrokes, and so forth. Recently, when my partner logged on a recently created CentOS server hosted at Digital Ocean, he saw the following messages: Last failed login: Tue Jul 29 16:27:31 EDT 2014 from stuff2share.net on ssh:notty There were 20 failed login attempts since the last successful login Clearly that wasn't us trying to log in. Obviously, there was some malicious user(s) likely trying to enter our server with brute-force attacks. We were under a ssh brute force attack. Such malicious scan is not uncommon these days. It came just a couple days after our new server was up. Read Full Blog Protect SSH Server from Brute Force Attack Q&A Please use this thread

Adobe CQ Renders Pages with Custom Extension by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Adobe CQ Renders Pages with Custom Extension You may already know CQ can render HTML pages with .html extension, I'd like to show you how to tell CQ to render pages with another custom extension. For example, instead of responding to http requests end with .html, we want CQ to respond to requests end with .foo. In order to tell CQ to be able to deal with a custom request with a special page extension (e.g., .foo), you need to Implement a component JSP file to render the page with .foo extension, and Tell CQ that .foo extension is acceptable. Here's the details of what you need to do: #1) Implement component JSP to render page with .foo extension Like many other CQ5 component, you should have known how to implement a CQ5 component in JSP, and what to name (according to url-to-script resolution rules) it so that it'll be used to render the page being requested. In our example case to render page with .foo ex

Adobe CQ Prepends Front Header Image to Pages with .pdf Extension by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Adobe CQ Prepends Front Header Image to Pages with .pdf Extension In this post, I'll show you how to render PDF documentation (.pdf) with an extra image page prepended to the front of the whole PDF document, and how to embed an extra image to the top of an existing page. I'm using CQ5.6.1 which is not too reliable when I played with an extension so, after trial and error, I modified the above file to reference proxy.jsp using the full path and without carriage return at the end of the line to avoid any possible 500 Internal Server Error. The Page.pdf.jsp file now saved have only one line: <%@include file="/libs/foundation/components/primary/cq/Page/proxy.jsp" %> For rendering .pdf, I use the out of the box PDF Rewriter mechanism. CQ5 demonstrates the default PDF Rewriter in their demo sites. For example, you can change an existing URL ends with .html extension: http://localhost:45

Adobe CQ Appends Backcover to Pages with .pdf Extension by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Adobe CQ Appends Backcover to Pages with .pdf Extension In this post, I'll show how to render a PDF document with an additional PDF page appended as a back-cover. This PDF back cover can not be done by PDF Rewriter, as an Adobe staff confirmed PDF Rewriter (used Apache FOP 0.95) has yet to support merging PDF files. **UPDATE: External links to pdf-files on http-servers and https-servers supported since Apache FOP 1.1. For merging PDF files, I'll be using a Java PDF library - pdfbox. For this, we need pdfbox app OSGi bundle/jar (1.8.2 as of this writing or the latest version) deployed in the Felix OSGi container so we can develop a .jsp to call into the API for merging PDFs. So get the library ready in your CQ environment with these steps: download pdfbox app jar from pdf.apache.org deploy/install and activate pdfbox-app-1.8.2.jar via CQ5 Web concole for bundles (e.g. http://localhost:4502/system/

Develop OSGi Bundle Using Adobe CRXDE Lite by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Develop OSGi Bundle Using Adobe CRXDE Lite It is often confusing as to how to set up an OSGi development environment for CQ5. In this post, I'll set what is to be coded aside, but focus on how to quickly and easily use CRXDE Lite (the web interface of CQ5) for 1.setting up an OSGi project skeleton for development, 2.adding libraries to OSGi project's internal build path, building OSGi projejct, deploying the compiled OSGi bundle in to CQ5 container. What OSGi Bundle Can Bring to CQ CQ5 runs in an Apache Felix OSGi container. To add configurable modular code to CQ, the code must also be an OSGi bundle jar. Out of the box, Adoble CQ5 is deployed with several OSGi components that you can configure them. To extend CQ's functionalities, you can develop your own OSGi bundle and deploy it into Felix, the OSGi container. Start a Job via a Sling Event Handler in CQ by aem4beginner Blog Abstract Start a Job via a Sling Event Handler in CQ There are multiple ways to handle events at different levels in CQ. In this post, I'd show you some sample code that starts a corresponding job based on an event (e.g. the action type of the ReplicationAction event) triggered at the Sling level. To put the above into context, let's assume we have a 'custom CQ workflow process step' (a.k.a. automated step) - PostPageActivationWorkFlow.java - developed already. The customer step is normally part of some workflow. This custom process step was designed so that it will 'replicate' the payload (the entity upon which a workflow instance acts) to a hypothetical remote place via HTTP POST. To run and trigger this custom process step (which in terms will execute PostPageActivationWorkFlow.replicate() method that I named and implemented), you normally create a workflow by dropping this custom process step into it. When the workf

Headless Content Management with AEM & I/O Runtime by Amol Anand Abstract There has been a massive explosion of digital channels in recent years. Marketers who wanted to get in touch with customers used to only have to worry about a website and email marketing campaigns. Then everyone started using cellphones, and mobile apps became another way to expose content to end users. Social media, digital signage, wearables, and the Internet of Things followed in quick succession. While a traditional website, a mobile app, and email are still the primary ways to reach customers, the challenge is now how to manage content for all of these channels, and how to support the different technologies. Each channel consumes content in a completely different way. One may get its information from HTML, another one from a JSON file. All the systems that are needed to push content to different channels are independent of each other, which creates content silos. If someone is creating some great conte

AEM - Architecture for an Okta Based Customer Identity and Access Management by Eddie Yao Abstract In today’s information-packed, multi-channel yet more and more regulated digital world, whether you just started a new business and are building your product, or you are a large business that has many applications, customer identity is always the fundamental and shared service in the application architecture. This is especially true in a cloud based architecture where you have multiple tenants in a distributed system. You need a unified customer identity solution to gain insights of your customers and provide them the best digital experience. Okta as a SaaS Based Identity Platform Among many workforce and customer identity solutions, platform services and integrations Okta offered as a SaaS, or Identity as a Service (IDaaS), solution, I will mainly focus on Authentication, Self Service Registration (SSR) and Authorization in the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). Property Index in AEM - Index properties and steps to create custom index by myaemlearnings blogspot Abstract Property Index is for queries involving property constraints - equality, exist/not null check on property. Oak property Index: Node of type "oak:QueryIndexDefinition" with: 1. propertyNames Name[] list of properties for which the index needs to be created. Example: jcr:title, cq:lastModified, hideInNav property for a page content cq:ParentPath property for an AEM Asset Optional/Supporting Properties 2. declaringNodeTypes Name[] list of node types for which the index is applicable for Example: cq:PageContent rep:Authorizable 3. unique Boolean true Applicable for queries with unique constraint This property should be used along with declaringNodeTypes Example: /oak:index/authorizableId Read Full Blog Property Index in AEM - Index properties and steps to create custom index Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.

Need for Query and Index in AEM by myaemlearnings blogspot Abstract For functionalities like full text search, retrieve content based on certain property or conditions associated with property/to avoid iterations on huge volume of content under the root, we write query based logic in AEM. Languages supported : 1.XPATH 2.JCR-SQL2 XPath: 1.Created using AEM Query Builder API. - com.day.cq.search.* 2.From development point of view, we need to be aware of standard OOB predicates to arrive at XPATH query. JCR-SQL2: 1.JCR-SQL2 queries are created using QueryManager - javax.jcr.query.QueryManager 2.QueryManager is acquired through JCR Session - session.getWorkspace().getQueryManager() Read Full Blog Need for Query and Index in AEM Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.

Utility Sling Model to expose N level Coral UI AEM Multi-field as JSON without using deprecated JsonItemWriter by Ramachandra Pai Abstract With the introduction of Coral UI and Sling models, implementing an N level multi-field in AEM is no longer a difficult job. That too without using ACS Commons! What are we going to achieve ❓ In this article, I will share an approach to build a three level nested multi-field (which can be extended to N level) and steps on how we can parse the same in our AEM component. The major issue that I wanted to tackle is writing a generic code to parse the multi-field as JSON without using the deprecated JsonItemWriter class and its dump method. The use case is to display a hierarchy of country, state and city. This approach is an extension of the one here. Please feel free to suggest improvements in terms of making the code generic and reusable. The code has been tested on AEM 6.4 GA. For AEM 6.3 you might need service pack 2 or more. Read Full B

Using aemfed to speed up your AEM front-end development in just 10 steps by Ramachandra Pai Abstract Have you ever struggled to wait for the time it takes to deploy your changes to your AEM instance using maven commands for trivial file changes like styling or a line here and there? There are plugins like Brackets and AEM Sling Development Tools which make development easy by allowing us to do this faster but they somehow restrict us to a specific IDE. What if we could proxy an AEM server and have a WYSIWYG kind of environment which continuously monitors your changes the way it happens in Angular! This idea led to the creation of aemfed npm module which does just that and a lot more! So what are we waiting for? Let’s get up and running with something fresh in AEM development. Note: This is only to be used in non-production environments to speed up the development cycle. Using AEM and Angular to make a dynamically configurable filter and sort component — Part 1 by Ramachandra Pai Abstract I am already in awe of AEM and now ……. I am discovering the way Angular complements it !! Together these two can create magic and we are about to see an example in this story. Recently we had a requirement to filter components based on tags configured in the API response. For this, we started out with two parallel approaches. 1️⃣ Based on jQuery and, 2️⃣ Using Angular. In jQuery, we had to iterate through the array and apply custom comparison logic to get the array sorted one way. Although we were not doing bad, we were missing out on something good. Angular clearly had the upper hand since filter and sort (both ways) can be done using Angular with fewer lines of code and using limitTo, we can restrict the entries so displayed. But the challenge was making it work with AEM. We had to make both the filter and the count authorable. Why did

Creating customisable & beautiful PDFs using jsPDF API , AEM and Angular by Ramachandra Pai Abstract Hi All, I recently came across a requirement wherein I had to generate statements of account in PDF format. In this article, you will be able to learn one way in which you can do the same using two amazing technologies namely: AEM and Angular. So what are we waiting for! Let’s get started. What are the options available? 🤔 🤔 There are two major APIs that assist in creating PDF from Angular: 1.jsPDF by MrRio. 2.jsPDF-AutoTable by simonbengtsson I will walk you through the second one since I had to create PDFs from html tables with header and footer and jsPDF-autoTable provides quite a convenient way to achieve the same. I hope you will explore the other one on your own. Read Full Blog Creating customisable & beautiful PDFs using jsPDF API , AEM and Angular Q&A Please use this thread to ask the related questions.

I have a product catalog where on rollout, the authored jcr:title (below) is getting used to create both the page name (e.g. pagename.html) and title of the new page.    I'm trying to create a different field to author a page name separate from the title but haven't been able to figure out what to use in the xml.  Is this possible in a rollout process?  I'm finding that on rollout, special chars in the jcr:title value are getting converted to underscores in the page name - probably since page names are normally limited to letters, numbers, dashes, commas, or underscores when creating a page. We're on 6.5.2.  Thanks.<titlejcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"sling:resourceType="granite/ui/components/coral/foundation/form/textfield"fieldLabel="Title"name="./jcr:title"fieldDescription="Title of product"renderReadOnly="{Boolean}true"required="{Boolean}true"/>
