AEM ui.frontend Module: Code Splitting, Dynamic Imports and TypeScript by LUCIO POVEDA BERTOS Abstract Nowadays being performant on page load is critical. A fast page load speed is critical to achieve a strong SEO ranking and Lighthouse score. A common way of decreasing the time it takes for a page to load is reducing the page's file size using minifiers and compressors. These tools do a great job of reducing the size of the files, but we can go even further to make sites run even more efficiently. As I'll describe below using a technique offered by most bundlers, Code Splitting, that divides large JS bundles into smaller modules that can be lazy loaded as needed, developers can improve page load speed and deliver updated content even more efficiently. At the same time, code splitting will provide the additional benefit of not having to re-load a huge bundle every time there is a small change on a single file/component. With a split bundle the browser will know what file has changed a

Tips for Building an Effective and Efficient Enterprise Adobe Experience Manager Platform by Brett Birschbach Abstract Content Management System (CMS) platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) are purchased by enterprise organizations looking to empower their brand and business unit marketers to create first-class digital experiences with reduced maintenance costs and dependence on IT. However, many organizations find themselves experiencing the opposite, with development and maintenance costs steadily increasing over time as their CMS becomes a Frankenstein of hundreds of components and IT once again becomes a bottleneck. Building a clean, maintainable AEM platform in support of a single site is pretty straightforward. Without proper planning and business goals, however, enterprises consisting of multiple brands and business units often see what started as 40 components and 8-page templates multiply into 400 components and 80-page templates. Website updates become constrained

AEM Permissioning : Use Cases & Implementation by Ankur Abstract AEM permissioning is used to determine what actions a user or group can perform and who is allowed to view a particular resource in AEM. It is one of the most important task that should be planned carefully for long term scalability and maintenance of assets in AEM. In this tutorial, we are going to cover below topics that an AEM Administrator/developer face in day to day life:- Understanding how permissions are evaluated in AEM. Best Practices for applying AEM Permissions. Understanding default restrictions and its patterns Set up sub-folder permissioning. How Permissions are evaluated in AEM:- AEM Permissions / Restrictions means what actions a user or group of users can perform on a resource. AEM permissions uses Access Control List (ACLs) to evaluated and determine what should be the final permissions applicable for a user or group of users. Access Control List (ACLs) is a combination of direct and indirect pe

There's been a lot of chatter lately about AEM as a headless CMS, so I thought I'd share a post with some helpful resources! Summary of AEM as a headless CMS: https://express.adobe.com/page/xMLfKr559fedK/ Headless Developer Portal: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/landing/experience-manager/headless/developer.html?lang=en Headless Tutorials: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-learn/getting-started-with-aem-headless/overview.html?lang=en We also have a great group of expert AEM practitioners and leaders in the Experience League Community Advisor Program so don't hesitate to reach out to them directly: https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/communityadvisors?expertise=t%3AADV+Experience+Manager

We have a use-case where we need to create a dynamic group and add users dynamically into the group for a user assignment task.  The users are variable and determined during runtime.  We are using the following APIs to create the group and assign users. https://developer.adobe.com/experience-manager/reference-materials/6-5/javadoc/org/apache/jackrabbit/api/security/user/UserManager.html https://developer.adobe.com/experience-manager/reference-materials/6-5/javadoc/org/apache/jackrabbit/api/security/user/Group.html After workflow completes, I would like to "clean up" the dynamic group.  Removing the users seems straightforward but, how do I delete the group? Thanks in advance.

Hello We are having this problem when trying to access experience cloud. We have the adobe console access as well , but couldn't see where to set this up.( Already saw other questions and suggestions was you can do it in console) Please if anyone can help ?

In AEM, we have 5 domains, and we're configuring robots.txt for each of them. We're getting the same robots.txt for all domains for some reason. I think we've double-checked the rewrite rule; it's working well, but robots.txt is cached somewhere. To my knowledge, weren't caching the robots.txt, and we're also getting cache as no store, private in the response headers.

The replication agent for the Brand portal cannot publish or unpublish the images from AEM to the brand portal. On click of test connection, it is showing an "OK" message, whereas while doing the actual publish it fails with "400 Bad requests" response from the Brand portal.I can see this message at the end of the replication log - error: com.day.cg.replication. How to Share Selected i18n Dictionaries in JSON Format — AEM(Adobe Experience Manager) by Albinsblog Abstract The AEM internationalization framework(i18n) uses dictionaries in the repository to store English strings and their translations in other languages. The framework uses English as the default language. Localized strings can be stored in several dictionaries in the repository, e.g., component level. The AEM internationalization framework combines the dictionaries and makes them available in Sling as a single ResourceBundle object. The i18n can be used in slightly, JavaScript, and Java to display the language-specific labels and values. In some cases, we may have the use case to share the i18n dictionaries externally. There are a couple of options to share the dictionaries externally. RESOURCEBUNDLEEXPORTSERVLET: By default the dictionaries are exposed using the ResourceBundleExportServlet (com.adobe.granite.i18n.impl.ResourceBundleExportServlet) registered under path /libs/cq

I have made 3 master pages for my document,  Page 1 has the header,  page 2 does not, and page 3 is a narrative continuation page.  The Narrative is on the middle of Page 1, and I have an expanding text field.  Is there a way to have the expanding text field on page 1 continue onto page 3 without affecting the items after it on page 1 and page 2?

AEM micro-optimization (part 2) by Jörg Hoh Abstract Micro optimizations are important, and their importance is described by a LWN posting about the linux kernel: Most users are unlikely to notice any amazing speed improvements resulting from these changes. But they are an important part of the ongoing effort to optimize the kernel’s behavior wherever possible; a long list of changes like this is the reason why Linux performs as well as it does. And is not specific for the Linux kernel, but you can apply the same strategy to every piece of software. AEM as a complex (and admittedly, it can sometimes be really slow) beast applies the very same. There are a number of cases in AEM, where do you operate not only single objcets (pages, assets, resources, nodes), but apply the same operation on multiple of these objects. The naive approach of just iterating the list and execute the operation on a single element of that list can be quite ineffective, especially if this operation comes wi

What are Custom HTML Elements? | How to use Custom HTML Elements in AEM? by Albinsblog Abstract In this post, let us explore what Custom HTML Elements are and how to use Custom HTML Elements in AEM. Custom Elements allow web developers to define new types of HTML elements.Once a custom element is defined, we can use it on par with built-in HTML elements. Some of the important features are enabled by Custom HTML elements. Define new HTML/DOM elements Create elements that extend from other elements Logically bundle together custom functionality into a single tag Extend the API of existing DOM elements Web Components uses Custom HTML Elements as one of the building blocks to enable reusable custom elements(Components). RULES ON CREATING CUSTOM ELEMENTS: The name of a custom element must contain a dash (-). So , and are valid names. You can’t register the same tag more than once. Attempting to do so will throw a DOMException Custom elements cannot be self-closing(), Always write a clo
