Task field on Project Level Report

Good Morning! Hoping someone can help me code this .... or tell me it's not possible :) We have a project level dashboard - shows things like Project Name, PM Name, Project Start & Completion Dates. Our leadership would like to see Project Launch Date. Launch Date is a task in our projects, but it's not the last task realizing many times after you go live, you have project shut-down activities. I realize I can create a Project Level custom field & pull that into our dashboard. But if I can, I prefer to avoid yet another custom field when we already have the task in our plan. I'm thinking of creating a unique Priority called Launch Date -- if the PM applies that priority to their Launch Date task, is there a way to populate that task's planned completion date in my dashboard? Thank you! Jodi Jodi Biscevic GM Financial - International Operations

We have a similar report on our side for print "in-supply" dates. This is a task in all our print projects. The way we got around it was to create a task report and filter for all task names containing "in supply date" so this only works if we don't have any other task in the project with those words. Then we add the columns for project name, PM name, and start and completion dates. These are all available from the task report so unless there are other uses for the project report you have (other than reporting those fields), you don't really need to make it a project report... PS: For those hoping to group by program with this type of report--I did mention in a different post that I was able to bring program name information down to the project level custom form (as a calculated field), which then allows for that field to be accessed and reported on in the task report. -skye

Hi Jodi, Your scenario sounds very similar to this "https://community.workfront.com/discussions/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=92312efa-7a10-4763-abb7-2383f1117903&CommunityKey=aaafaff0-5e4e-4e38-8903-f1f990935567&tab=digestviewer#bm92312efa-7a10-4763-abb7-2383f1117903#bm0">At Last! A Project View that tracks Percent Complete by Phase thread, so I thought I'd bring the latter to your attention in case it is of use. More specifically, if you do choose to try to "pick off" a particular Task's date from within the Project, yes, it is possible; here's a good "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000586214-Referencing-Collections-in-a-Report">reference .
