I was wondering if someone could help me out here since I haven't been getting much traction on the ctrl-c and ctrl-v functionality.
Before the 2019.1 release, our PM's were able to highlight text from a calculated field, copy (using ctrl-c) and paste (ctrl-v) into another field within their projects. The removal of this functionality has been interrupting workflows and causing our PM's major headaches when changes need to be made to their Version Codes. Instead of simply copying and pasting the Version Code they now need to manually enter it on the column, which not only causes more room for error but is super tedious.
I opened a ticket with support and we were offered workarounds to this by either creating a task report filtering for tasks for the project, or by selecting the individual task (in this case the Version Code task) and selecting edit to copy the Version Code value into the field, but this only creates more work for everyone involved.
Has anyone else experienced this in their instance? If so, I have submitted a workfront idea and would appreciate anyone who would upvote this. Hi Jessica, I suspect we're doing something different, but as below, my Ctrl+C copy / Ctrl+V paste test worked just now:
on a Project's built in Tasks tab
with a custom view
copying from a Task level calculated custom parameter
pasting to a Task level text custom parameter

Hi @Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore At first I couldn't copy the text. Each time I tried to select the text, the task acted like I was clicking on it in order to drag and reorder it. Then I realised y ou are actually going into in-line editing the task. Whilst in that mode it is possible to use your mouse to select the text from the other calculated field. You have to do ctrl-C before you let go of the mouse button though, otherwise it exits from edit mode. This is really fiddly for end users. Perhaps WF can find a way for the system to ignore the mouse click whilst trying to select text if the movement is horizontal (i.e. to stop it from going into the task reorder mode). David Cornwell
Its because Doug is using a grouping. When I added a grouping to my view I was able to successfully copy and paste. The only con to using a grouping is that the parent tasks are no longer bolded. Jessica Rodriguez Verizon | Print Production System Administrator
I am unable to copy/paste any text - even if I add a grouping. In fact, when I added a grouping, the "add more tasks" link at the bottom of my task list did nothing when clicked. This is super frustrating. Barb Pilarski Pittsburgh Penguins
