I don't believe so. Within Proof there's an auto-archive function, but going into archive doesn't save you disk space, it just reduces clutter in your interface. Note that if you're manually archiving within Proof it's not reducing your disk quota. If you mean they are storing the document somewhere else and not in WF/Proof, you could look at document integrations to automatically store documents there - Workfront would show thumbnails, but just store the links not the documents.
