Approvals showing in Work List

This might be a dumb question, or just my lack of approval/proof knowledge, but is there any way to configure a proof workflow or any setting when creating a proof so that when an approval is requested, it doesn't show up at the top of that person's Work List? Our internal team would ideally like it to show with the task, or at least show the same time the task it is attached to is due. They are bumping other work items lower on their Work List by showing first thing at the top. Any thoughts? Alex Afriyie Questline, Inc.

We have the same issue. We use task approvals on a majority of our project tasks. We can run a report that includes approvals, however they don't show the resource assigned, they show the role, which is how the approval loops are built. Our issue is that these same approvals show up in Home page for a specific resource, but we can't seem to get them to show up on the approvals report with the specific resource named. Ideally, we want 1 report that shows tasks and approvals for each resource so we have a comprehensive list that we can schedule from. In our case we are working on proofreading tasks split between 3 proofreaders who may have 20 tasks split between them, and an additional 10 approvals that don't easily get captured in a task report. Hi Alex, Are you creating tasks to approve proofs? So the person has to review the proof and check a task to review the proof as done? We had someone doing this and it created a lot of extra work for our team it also caused confusion for our reviewers who are just outside reviewers they were not able to ever check the task as done. Instead, we have the project owner confirming that the correct reviewers are on all proofs when they get the reviews. We also have everyone who is posting proofs add the due date to the subject line/name of proof i.e. "due April 10th: email review for" that way our reviewers can prioritize the proofs that need attention first. For our team reviewers, we have one person checking the team Q and delegating proofs each day. Aileen Aileen Taylor Cell Signaling Technology

Hi Alex, If you are using the new Home, you could tell users to un-check Approvals from showing in their Work List. Then, you could edit the Layout Template they use to show Approvals in the task-pane (the right-hand side). Brian C. Mauger Bloomberg L.P.

Hi I haven't been able to dive much into Home, as everyone's is all mucked up with old proof approvals and so we've been pretty much ignoring it. I would like to advance our team into using this and this solution sounds like it would be great, but I can't see how you can have approvals only show up in the task pane. Can you elaborate on this a bit? Thanks!

Hey All @Brian Mauger - would be great if you could expand what you mean about them showing on the right hand side! @Jill Ackerman - if you are referring to the home area task pane if you use the filters on the top left and in the drop down unselect all and then only select approvals this should show you just approvals Vicky Fitzgerald Telegraph Media Group Limited

Hi I think I replied to the wrong message so the original idea about how to configure Home so that Approvals can show up more cleanly on the Home screen isn't showing here. I understand about unchecking the Approvals in home, which nicely give you the "real" tasks that are due, but there was another part about how to see approvals somewhere else in Home using the Layout Template. When I look at the Home tab on the layout template, little of it coincides with what I see on the actual Home tab, so I find the configuration rather elusive.

I've been unchecking Approvals in Home and trying to get a better handle on Home, but every day I have to uncheck it. Is there a way to make that "stick" ?

@Vicky Fitzgerald I just tried to step through this and take some screengrabs for you. Unfortunately, it does not work as I expected. Sorry, but this does not seem like a solution. Have you tried to create a Document Approval or Proof Approval report instead? Brian Brian C. Mauger Bloomberg L.P.
