Adding External Companies

Hello!! We are currently weighing the pros and cons of adding companies to our WF environment for our external team members/contractors. Anyone have any thoughts on the pros and cons on this? Thanks!! Sana Perry National Heritage Academies, Inc.

We're an agency so we have companies set up for every client - it's a good way of grouping projects and users, and controlling sharing and access (i.e. if a new stakeholder joins, we can add them to the relevant company and they will be able to access the projects, dashboards etc shared with that company). We can have projects with the same company in different portfolios and programmes, if different teams/departments are working on them. This is also useful for reporting as we can filter/group by company - e.g. you could see data for all of the projects a particular contractor is working on. Again, there's other ways to do that, but companies is the simplest method for us. The only downside I have seen so far is that we now have quite a long list of companies, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to archive them if you no longer need them - I may be wrong on this though as I haven't really investigated...! I can't think of any negatives as long as you set up your permissions properly. We have several contractors set up as WF team members, and we assign work to them as we would our internal team. You can run your reports or view their timesheets to ensure their hours billed equal their hours completed. Easy peasy...
