The [Resolved By] list should be able to be filtered by open objects.
WHAT’S HAPPENING: When I try to tie an issue to be resolved by another project, task, or issue, the picklist shows all objects in the Workfront instance. (This is because the type ahead doesn't apply any filters. This is universal throughout the whole application)
Note: I renamed the issues in this image to make it easier to demonstrate
• It shows objects that are already closed or resolved.
‚Ä¢ It also shows the object that you’re on. (This is always the top line item.) If you pick it, you’ll get a warning that says “An issue cannot resolve itself.” [This option should not be presented if it’s not possible]
WHAT IT SHOULD DO: Only show open issues. And not the issue you’re on.
WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM: If you select an issue, project, or task that’s already resolved or closed, it instantly changes the original issue to that status.
Our use case is that we’re tying requests to be resolved by projects & other issues. Our project and issue names are very similar, and it’s hard to figure out from the name what’s open vs. what’s been resolved/closed.
The list of resolving objects would be smaller if it was filtered.
We also don’t want to accidentally pick the wrong item and have Workfront change our original issue to “Resolved” before it actually is resolved.
Especially because our configuration sends off an email notification when their requests are resolved.
