Reporting on Boards and Admin View Access

Description - Need the same reporting capabilities with boards (all types of boards) as we do with all other areas on Workfront and for Admins to be able to see a list of all boards without the need to share the board with the Admin. Because of the lack of these features, we have instructed our users not to use boards.

Why is this feature important to you - Without being able to report on boards or even find a list of all boards, it limits the usefulness of this feature. It makes it impossible for Admin to monitor the use of these, keep the system clean, and to tell the story of our work to leadership. There will be a missing portion of the bigger picture without including board information in reports. In fact, I'm extremely surprised reporting wasn't one of the first things created before pushing boards to production.

How would you like the feature to work - Just like reporting for all the other areas within the tool that is available today. Also, the Admins should be able to see all boards like the can with EVERYTHING else in the tool.

Current Behavior - No way to find out what boards are created, if the users are doing boards correctly, and what work has been done using boards instead of the typical method.

Without visibility to all the boards, it makes troubleshooting issues more complicated than it needs to be for system admins.

Need to be able to export or create reports on what work was done on the boards. Otherwise, Boards are an unfinished component of Workfront.

If admins can see all projects in the system, we should be able to view all boards for all the reasons mentioned above. At a minimum, admins should be able to see any board with tasks or issues connected to projects since project task and issue changes can be made through boards by users not permissioned to make these changes in the project view.

Has there been any updates on the reporting capability for Boards? Without reporting, there is little value of using WF Boards for our Agile teams.

With the Q2 2025 release we now provide an "Admin Report" tab on the Boards landing page.

This tab is visible only to system administrators. It provides an inventory list of all boards -- including those the admin is not a member of -- with some key information about the board, including:

  • Board owner
  • Last update date
  • Members
  • Archived status
  • Which template was used to create it
  • Card count

Additionally, admins viewing this inventory list can filter, show/hide columns, and group the results to located the boards details they are looking for.

@MattMi3 This is great news. When will we see the Boards Admin Report section? I don't see anything about it in the Q2 or Q3 release notes. The functionality isn't showing for me in Preview or production. Thanks

@MattMi3 can we please get a follow-up on this? This really is a glaring oversight. Administrators need to be able to see ALL objects in their system, with no exceptions.
