Custom Task or Project Fields that Default on Every Object

We currently add a custom form to every single task in the system. This form gives us some calculated field that are needed to make our filters work. This means that whenever a task is added the user must remember to add the custom form. Eventually we just wrote a script to do this, but it's an ugly solution.

It would be far more useful to be able to define a given set of fields that were universal on every task or project.

Agreed. The ability to designate custom forms for all tasks/issues/etc on a project by project (and universal) basis would be great. Currently, the fact that we have to remember to add the form to each task results in us avoiding their use because it's a pain. We also have to run reports to see what tasks didn't get the correct forms assigned and then follow up. It's a lot of extra overhead.

I like this idea. Craig/Marc, what kind of fields are you guys trying to apply universally across tasks? I wonder if this is something consistent across clients that might mean these are just standard fields that need to be built into the Task object.

Agreed, we have had several issues that task-level custom fields would solve, but have not implemented those solutions because of this issue.
