yes, the path for jar (bundles) can be choose freely according to this pattern:/apps/*/*/install/apps/*/installthat means a folder named install must be on third or fourth level inside /apps. You can choose the names of the path elements freely.

Make sure you understand the OSGI component livecycle. Initialization should not happen in the constructor, but rather in the activate() method (or the method annotated with @Activate).Besides the OSGI specification (which is sometimes hard to read) I found org.osgi.service.component | osgi.enroute.site to explain it nicely.Jörg

Typically a sitemap is updated after 12hr or 24hr via a scheduled job which takes care of iterating JCR structure once and caching it in dispatcher till next version of sitemap gets generated by job.Making changes in existing file might created overhead if these changes are large number also, I am not sure if updating sitemap as content changes will really create big impact for next few hours.
