EDS - Breadcrumbs & Hreflang Support

Avatar

Level 1

I'm new to AEM/EDS and I’ve looked at various support documentation online (with not much luck) regarding breadcrumb and hreflang support. I have two questions below that I need some help with.

Breadcrumbs: Is it possible for them not to exist as part of the source within AEM/EDS and will that have any impact on SEO and the scheme.org markup? Is there a way to apply the markup via JS/outside of the page source?

Hreflang: Similar investigation for hreflangs. Is there any impact caused by not having them in the page source? And is there a way to apply them using EDS?

Hi,

Let me share some thoughts:

  1. Breadcrumbs: These are used to better index your site in search engines. You can find more information here: https://yoast.com/breadcrumbs-seo/. In EDS, you can definitively add breadcrumbs as a new block component. There is already one breadcrumb block available created by the community, you can see it here (https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-edge-delivery/using/other/developer/bread...). For more info about how to create your own blocks you can check here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_t1ncCCvVA&ab_channel=AEMGEEKS

  2. HrefLangs: The main objective of these HTML tags is to improve indexing for your site in search engines, especially for multilanguage sites. If you have a multilanguage site and you don't use these tags, your site may not be indexed as well as it could be by search engines. Yes, you can add these using EDS. You can check this thread for more information: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-cloud-service/content/edge-delivery/build...

Hope this helps.
