Adobe Target caching behavior comes from a mix of browser, CDN, and Target-side caching:
- Browser cache may hold old JS or page assets, so clearing cache forces a fresh download of the Target library or experience code.
- Target visitor cookies persist the user’s experience assignment. Even if you edit the activity, Target will keep serving the same version until that cookie is cleared (incognito = new visitor).
- Edge caching in Target’s delivery network can take a few minutes to refresh after publishing or editing an activity.
- Different browsers handle cache, cookies, and profile data differently, so results vary between Chrome, Firefox, and incognito.
That’s why clearing cache or switching browsers sometimes “fixes” visibility of an XT activity—it resets the visitor profile and cached assets.
