What is required to enable a standard user to add a file to a form?

I have a form that I am trying to enable standard users that only have Adobe Acrobat Reader to Add a file to a form.  751315_pastedImage_0.pngI have gone into Adobe and I thought I have enabled the appropriate permissions for users to do this function.  What exactly do I need to do the get this function to work?  Is there a program that I am missing?

Thank you

Hi,

I found this diagram on a website somewhere. It shows you what can and can't be done, depending on user and creator versions. I have had this so long that I have no idea where it originated, so apologies to the person I borrowed it from!.

This was for ES2 - you basically have to have the Reader Extensions software for everything in Option 4 (including letting the user attach files). This is a server side application, which doesn't come as standard with ES2. It had to be purchased separately and was quite expensive.

For ES4, there are details about the Reader Extensions on this page:

Modules | Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 4

No idea of the cost of this one though.

Good Luck

You need Acrobat Pro to enable the form.  This is how I enable my documents designed in LiveCycle

  1. Open PDF in Acrobat Pro
  2. Select File > Save As Other > Reader Extend PDF > Enable More Tools
  3. Save PDF to another location different from original.  You cannot edit in LiveCycle unless you remove reader rights.
