Version of flash player to use for video / screen share quality

Hi Guys,

My app features chat, audio/video webcam, screen share and file transfer capabilities. Minimum flash version enforced is v10.0

Is there any benefit of enforcing a higher version like 10.1 or 10.2?

Are there benefits to hardware-based full-screen video acceleration after v10.0 when webcam is in full-screen mode?

Would video quality improve if a higher version of flash is required? For webcam video and screen share, is h.264 used for encode/decode?

Screen share refresh is quick, but picture quality isn't all that great.

Lastly, a question specifically for the LCCS team. When is the next screen share add-in release going to prouduction?
Read in another post that it is coming soon. Do you guys have a list of all the fixes?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

10.1 gets you application multicast for audio/video streaming. I don't

think you'd see a difference in video quality though - it's all the same

codec. You should be able to adjust picture quality on the

ScreenSharePublisher - have you tried that?

We've actually studiously avoided mentioning any updates to the screen

share addin =). We don't have this coming up any time soon, although we have

made fixes to bugs in the screensharing workflow. The release is coming soon

(weeks, not months), and you'll get a list of fixes then.

hope that helps

Thank you Nigel.

As far as quality of the screen share video screen, I have tried different values, even maxing out quality and framerate with unlimited

bandwidth. I always see pixelation. Should I expect Skype or Logmein like picture quality?
