Problem with Printing Images in a Form

Avatar

Hello!

I am currently working on a form in Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  The form has a few PNG images with transparent backgrounds included in it as part of the design of the form.

When I save the form as a dynamic XML PDF, the images appear fine.  But when I print them, they don't look right and appear as artifacted blocks of color.

All of the images are 300dpi 8 bit RGB PNG images.  I have tried embedding the images but it doesn't make a different when printing.  The strangest thing of all is that the the logo prints correctly, but the other images do not, and they all are the same format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks so much!

Best Regards,

Ashley

Make sure you are using "save for web" out of PhotoShop, I think that makes a difference.

And the PNGs only support 1 transparent colour.

Thanks for the information!  I think that maybe it is the 2 color transparency issue that I am having.  Some of my images have 2+ colors in them in addition to a transparent background.

This is kind of a silly limitation for LiveCycle honestly, because many people use PNG files with more than one color!

I will try to scale down the amount of colors or use JPEGs instead - thanks!

The number of colours is fine, PNG is an RGB format so there are no "spot" colours or anything like that. It's the number of transparent colours you need to watch for - so it's fine for clipping an image off of a background or that kind of thing.
