Preview PDF C++ Runtime Error

Hey,

Currently have a user running Acrobat X with included Livecycle 9 and Reader X running on XP SP3.

No issues in running any of those individually but whenever they preview a PDF in livecycle it crashes with a microsoft visual C++ runtime error.

So far I've uninstalled Acrobat and Reader X and re-installed but still no result.

Deleted Application Data but still no result.

I've searched the forum and found a similar case with a windows 7 user but no resolution.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

I have also experienced this. There might be quite few reasons for this.

1. Do you work for long hours in LiveCycle Designer?

2. Is your form too long?

3. Do you have a lot of controls and scripting for your form?

4. Do you do a good amount of copy paste of script in your form?

Try to open the form and do the save as operation and try to do the preview again. If this does not fixe the issue then you may need to reinstal LiveCycle Designer.(Not sure of this.)

Thanks,

Bibhu.

Hi Bibhu,

I am getting this error even after I have re-installed AcrobatX/Livecycle 9 and try and preview a new blank page.

I do not believe it is a problem with a particular PDF rather the preview function of Licecycle.

Cheers,

Jamie

I've been having this problem.  It is associated with cutting and pasting or duplicating fields.  It is possible associated with just one field.

Do a search in the form XML for something like:

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

If it occurs more than once:

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

<?templateDesigner StyleID aped2?>

Delete all but one occurance for that field.
