WAS: LC ES2 on Websphere App Svr 7.0.0.5 on Win Svr 2008 r2 on VMwareESX4.0

DB: Oracle 11G on AIX

Installed Components: LC ES2 RM

In the spirit of helping people in dire need, as I am now....

Hi All,

Ok, so this is the 4th installation at the client - bank!

Everything installs as expected - takes a bit longer on a VM tho, but it eventually installs.

All configurations done according the adobe manuals (i have them all!) and googled beyond belief!

Problem is when starting up Websphere.... it takes for ever! (like 45 minutes - if your patience lasts that long!)

And then, the Websphere consoles eventually shows!

But the LC Adminui does not show.. the URL launches (http://localhost:<port>/adimui), but just shows a blank screen!! (using Ultra VNC Viewer)

My Experience

If trying to get to the ADMINUI in the browser, using Ultra VNC Viewer, you will notice you get displayed a blank screen.

rather go to the full URL http://localhost:9080/adminui/logic.faces!

==> I suspect this is either a bug or a setting that needs to be configured.

==> try acess from an external pc, no through Ultra VNC

My Experience - I obviously had external factors to work with - Bank IT policies!

- for the short term: Never try this at home, at the office or at the client

- Working with Ultra VNC Viewer & Websphere are not natural friends!

- ensure cmd PING command works for LC config manager

- ensure full administrator rights

- right click "run as administrator' for every exe

- open Ports

- ensure DB conifiguration is as per Adobe documentation (UTF8, character sets, and user permission... Create Table... etc)

Experience: installing & running outside a VM environment works like a charm, even with a 'non-supported' Win Svr 2008 R2

anybody with a similar environment (Websphere Oracle)... please posts your experiences, tips, "watch outs" here...

QUESTION:

why does Websphere take so so long to start up in the above environment setup?
close to 40 minutes before I get the Websphere Admin Console launched!

Is Websphere, Oracle or Livecycle lagging the problem?

any performance configurations i can do? something obvious I may be missing!

Plesae let me hear your thoughts / suggestions
