I need to Calculate part of a drop down selection. number value and text

Hi I am translating a form from lotus notes and It has drop downs that have a number and text. I.E. options (1 - poor, 2 - ok, 3 - Good, 4 - Great) then there is a field on the bottom that calculates the selections of the boxes by the numerical value and gives a score.

I know how to use FormCalc language to get a pure numerical value but when the text is added after the number the calculation breaks.

Any Ideas?  (is it possible to make the selections just numbers and have a selection description instead?)

For anyone looking  I was able to do it using Data Binding and mapping values to each text entry. on each field select the data binding tab and click the checkbox "specify Item values" and double click the number next to the text value.

If you like me and have a whole page full of these YES you can ctrl click and select multiple fields with the same selections and edit them all at once!

I knew it had to be there somewhere
