Enable client credential caching

Hi,

I would like to know how can i delete the stored username and password on the client machine without unchecking " on the server. This is useful when a user puts "Remember me" however after a while he realizes that someone else is using his PC as well and wants to remove the Remember me option. Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is no built in function in Acrobat or Reader (7, 8 or 9) to do this.  Acrobat X now has has the ability to clear cached credentials.

If you absolutely need to get rid of cached credentials, you can try deleting the files located in C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security.

Please note that you should make a backup of the files before trying this.  Also, you will lose any principal keys (used for offline access) that were previously downloaded.  Acrobat\Reader will prompt you to re-download them for documents where the user has the offline permission.

Actually, Acrobat and Reader save cached credentials in the Windows Registry. You can clear them easily.

  1. First, quit Acrobat and any related process from the Task Manager.
  2. Next, launch the Registry Editor. Go to one of the following directories:
    1. \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\AdobeSynchronizer\9.0\Credentials\
    2. \\Software\Adobe\AdobeSynchronizer\9.0\Credentials\
    3. \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\Credentials\
  3. Delete all entries except the default entry.
