ConnectNow Plugin does not display on XP

Avatar

Level 2

We absolutely love the screenshare ability, but there seems to be some problems on Windows XP. The user selects shareScreen, the Adobe Connect Now Plugin is launched, the plugin is displayed in the Windows task manager on the bottom of the screen, but there is no way to get the Plugin to display on the desktop. The user is hence not able to select what they are sharing and are "stuck", unable to screenshare.

Here is a screenshot: http://min.us/mvj5BOj

I tried "Cascade Windows", "Stack Windows vertically", "Stack Windows Horizontally", but no matter what the ConnectNow plugin is never viewable on the Desktop on XP.

Any advice on how to handle this issue will be kindly welcomed.

Yes, we found a bug in the current version of the SDK that makes screenshare

unusable if your SWF is hosted on a "short domain" (like min.us). We already

have a fix that will go in the next SDK (a few weeks away) but in the mean

time you can bypass the problem by accessing the SWF on a different/longer

domain (like www.min.us).

If you really can't work around the issue we can probably post an updated

SWC (let us know which version you are using: player 9, 10, 10.1 and/or

FlashOnly, so that we don't build a million different versions

Excellent! Seems the problem was only apparent when using IP instead of URL.

Is this defect only for XP, or did you find it on other operating systems as well?

Thanks Raff!

And yes, the problem affected also SWF hosted on an "IP". It's a bug in the

LCCS code so unfortunately it happens with any operating system.

I have similar problem specially on macs.

On windows, the behavior is inconsistent. The plugin crashes quite often and sometimes the windows just stays minimized.

Flash player version 10.1

Is your swf hosted on a "short" domain (host.com) or are you using an IP address instead of a host name ? These bugs will be fixed shortly.

If you are not in one of these cases we may need more info in order to troubleshoot your problem.

Hi just wanted to know if this IP thing is still an issue currently. Thanks.

This problem has been fixed for quite some time.
