Configuring Outgoing Email

I am using 9.0 version of Livecycle. I ahve used the following help link to configure outgoing email settings.

The email funtionality still does not work. Are there any more settings required at the server end for setting outgoing email?

If you want to receive emails when new tasks are received within Workspace then look at the following post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/581058.

If you want to manually send emails using the EmailService service, then you need to do the configuration on the service itself under Connection Settings (make sure to click on the All button to see all properties).

Thanks for your response.

I have set the following settings as suggested in the post.

1. email server settings are configured properly (under adminui/Services/Process Management/Server Settings/Email Settings).

2. set the settings to allow email notifications for new tasks (under adminui/Services/Process Management/Server Settings/Task Notification).

3. Finally, the users also need to set some settings in Workspace to allow email notifications to be received (preferences/Manage UI Settings)

But still did not receive any email.

I have also set EmailService SMTP settings.

This error is definitely coming from the SendEmail service.

Make sure to uncheck the"Use Global Settings" checkbox from the Connection Settings configuration of the Send Email operation.

If it is checked, it'll take the configuration information from the service (configured from the Component view) instead of from the Connection Settings section.

But the task notification and administration notification emails are still not getting sent to the assigned user. All the check boxes are selected for the notifications.

When a Task Assignment occurs, are you seeing any exceptions in the log?

It will tell you if it cannot connect or if your username and password are incorrect.

1. In Services->LiveCycle Process Management ES2->Server Settings->Email Settings. SMTP settings are cross checked and are fine.

2. In Services->LiveCycle Process Management ES2->Server Settings->Task Notifications

3. In Services->LiveCycle Process Management ES2->Server Settings->Administrator Notifications

This error is also coming from the Email service (sendWithMapOfAttachments) and this has nothing to do with the settings you've set in 1,2 and 3 (in the previous post). Those settings are for built-in task notification only.

If you use an implicit send email step, then you need to configure the setting on that step. They are independent from the settings in adminui. That being said, there is a problem with the account you are using on the  sendWithMapOfAttachments step of your process. Again, make sure to uncheck the "Use Global Settings".

What I meant is to make sure all you users had an email address configured properly. An again this is used for built-in email notification, not for the sendWithMapOfAttachments operation.

In my modified process i am not using any explicit email opeartion. I am just invoking the process and only passing a form to the user but i am still getting that sendWithMapOfAttachments operation error in the log file. Why is that happening?

I have undeployed all other applications on the LiveCycle server. But when i undeploy Process Management (Systems) which is the application deployed alongwith LiveCycle installation my process gives an end point error during invoke. If i re-deploy Process Management (Systems) it works fine and i also get sendWithMapOfAttachments error in the log. Even though i am only passing a form to the user in my process. Should Process Management (Systems) be available?

Can you create a new one from scratch (just 1 user step) and see if you get the same results?

The Process Management (system) application contains all the Render and Submit services (as well as other necessary processes for Process Management). If you undeploy this app, you will be unable to render or submit anything in Workspace.
