Can a text field be "truly" transparent?

I know this may sound silly, but I am working on a project where I need my final PDF to have a text field that is present and usable, but does not have the default semi-transparent gray fill when deselected. Is this possible?

You can change the appearance property of the TextField to have same color as the background object has.

However, the field will be grayed out if you click on Highlight Fields button on your Reader/Acrobat.

Thanks Nith, but there is an image behind the text field. Surly there must be a way to set the background color to a true transparency.
