Livecycle ES - development tools?

I downloaded the trial version of Livecycle ES. I already have Designer included with my Adobe Professional 9 installation. It tells me in order to install the development tools(workbench), i will have to uninstall my Designer installation.

Is therea way for me to test the existing forms I've already created on the server solutions without using the development tools and ditching my current Designer installation?

What do you want to test?

You could use the FormsIVS test application (C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\deploy\adobe-forms-ivs-jboss.ear) and test your xdp from that interface.

Just copy the ear file to the deploy folder under JBoss and go to http://localhost:8080/FormsIVS.

i'd like to test

1. reader extensions

2. digital signature

3. adding external data to a form dynamically

1. Reader Extensions has its own interface http://localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions

2. What do you want to test for Dig.Sig?

3. You can use an xml file to merge with you template using FormsIVS. Just pretend the xml came from whatever system. If you want to interact with the external system, then you'll have to install Workbench.

In the end I think it'll be worthwhile to install Workbench. I know it's annoying to uninstall/reinstall but in the end if you're planning to use LC, that might be the right thing to do.

I agree. It sounds like workbench might be the easiest solution. I will see if my employer will give me a separate loaner laptop to set up a test environment. that way I wouldn't have to modify my current installation.
