Form -> Distribute -> xml back -> populate a different form

I am currently evaluating Acrobat Pro version 8 for a non-profit organization. If I distribute a form and receive an xml file from the end users is it possible to take some of the elements from this file and populate a second form?

The issue: we have different needs for different areas within the organization. The initial form may be a superset of the information needed by the areas. One area may expect their data to be returned in their form. We would like to lift the appropriate fields out of the returned superset form, populate the requested pdf form and email it to them. Other data from the superset form will be used by other areas.

I don't know very much about xml so please enlighten me as to how easy this project would be. I have designed forms, distributed them, and received replies back.

Thanks,

Lawrence
