Form Alert "This actions is not permitted."

I'm trying to move a form which has lived in Word for a generation into LiveCycle ES 8.2.

Live Cycle tells me the form is compatible with everything since Acrobat 6.0.2.

But in Reader 7, I get disastrous results. The email submit button, which has to submit the PDF form itself not just XML data, generates an alert which just says, "This action is not permitted." with an OK button.

Anybody have an idea why this is happening?

Another issue is that when the form opens Reader 7 displays an alert that says in part, "Clicking this button will email a data file containing data you type into this form." This should not be the case, as I jumped through all kinds of hoops and finally found how to configure the button to send the PDF itself not just the data.

Anybody have an idea what's up with that?

This is a mission-critical form that has to be made to work, so I'll be really grateful for any suggestions.
