Drop-Down List auto selection / ui.open="onEntry"

I would like to get a drop down so that as a user types letters beyond the first, the list will scroll to the next appropriate value. This post was looking for something similar: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05b98c?@@

I like how it works when allowing custom text entry and the drop down arrow is clicked, other than having to click the arrow. The list is narrowed down further with each letter typed. I set out to figure out how to make the list drop down on entry and found:

onEntry

The list drops down on entry into the field. It disappears upon exit from the field.

It does not work though. The field does not behave any differently with open set to onEntry than it does to the default.

Any ideas?

By default it only supports a single char entry for movement to that section of the DD. I do not know of any script to allow multiple char entries but that does not mean it cannot be done.

If I could force the drop down open (what ui.open="onEntry" should do) that works well.
