Database Lookups

Avatar

Not applicable
We are converting from older applications running Adobe forms, and workflow server products to the new LiveCycle products. We have currently installed versions 7.2 of forms manager, forms server and Workflow server. Our forms are being rendered using forms manager. In our previous apps created utilizing the old Adobe forms and workflow servers software, (pre-LiveCycle), we made use of some server side scripting on the forms to perform database lookups of information.

For example: within the javascript code within the form and designated to run on the server we utilized ADO to establish an ODBC connection to our Oracle database and then execute the appropriate SQL statement to retrieve the necessary information. This worked fine in the past. My question is can I access a database in this fashion in the new LiveCycle forms manager software? How would we accomplish this? We dont want to push these lookups to the Workflow.

Thanks in advance
