Bug? "Selection Fields" (Radio Button, Drop-down, etc) strange behavior with default

I'm wondering if this is a bug and/or if there is a work-around.

This is weird behavior, and after much time in troubleshooting here's what I found.

Setup:

I have (3) Radio button groups (RBG) and (1) drop-down (DD)

one subform contains (2) of the RBGs and the DD

Another subform contains (1) RBG

In subform 1, only one of the RBGs will show the default, the remaining RBG and DD are blank and don't display the default. The RBG that displays the default has Normal binding, the other are bound to data nodes.

In subform 2, the RBG does not show the default. This is bound to a data node.

Troubleshooting and results:

1.) When I remove the binding from the RBG and DD the defaults show

2.) If I move the RBGs and DDs out of their respective subforms to the end of the form, they show the default. They still show when I "wrap in subform." (Unbound to data)

3.) If I copy the RBGs and DDs from their subforms and paste (a copy) at the bottom of the form, both instances show the default when:

Both are bound to the same data node

The new (bottom) instance displays when unbound, but the old (top) instance loses its default

I guess for now, I'll just have to replicate the fields and hide them as a work-around, but I'd prefer to know if this is a bug or something I can solve permanently in my file.

Has anyone seen this?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Lisa
