hi guys,
I am considering to take some AEM courses. But I'm not sure will I get any form of certifications to prove I took them? Such as the AEM Sites: Author (AEM 6.x) course. Any ideas?

Yes, generally you will get certificate after completing the training.
To get certified - you need to pass AEM Exams - such as the developer one. If you are interested in taking the developer exam - you should attend next months webinar on preparing for it:

ALthough you may be a piece of paper showing you passed the training - that is not AEM certification.

As rightly mentioned by @kautuk and @scott, you will get a 'Certificate of Completion' for each training you take for Developer, Advanced Developer, Administrator etc...
You will have to take a diiferent exam for the product 'certification'
