what if any is the use of ".jquery.son"  request?  It has caused a memory leak on our CQ 5.5 server (based on memory dumps) and I dont think it is generated on our web site.

However, when I try to hit that URL as "www.example.com/content/en.jquery.json"        I get a    " Invalid recursion selector value "

In AEM we do not have jquery selector.   It is for sure custom implementation issue. Generally I have see this happening missing up OOB client libs OR your components including external library directly rather than building with client library.
