I have not tried this for 6.5, however I tested this for AEMaaCS and I was able to run it in local.
Can you please check which service pack are you using?

Hi @durga_kavali ,
I am trying to setup universal editor for AEM 6.5 with service pack 22. Followed the steps mentioned in the below document.
Whenever i try to access a page in universal editor, it takes me to AEM login screen and the input fields are disabled. Did you come across this kind of issue, when you try to setup universal editor?
Thanks in advance.

Do you see any error on the right side console tab?
It could be linked to handling the SameSite Cookies, Please take a look at this page - https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-cloud-service/content/implementing/dev...
Thanks,
Lokesh

@durga_kavali I'm in the same boat and encountering the same errors. Have you found a way to get Universal Editor working with AEM 6.5.22?
Thanks,

Based on the provided error screenshot, it appears that there is an issue with connecting to the necessary content fragment. Is your instance linked via the HTTPS port? Is your local universal editor service operational?
Consider configuring the universal editor by referring to this document.-
If you still found issues , please share more details about the error, I will try to provide more descriptive soluton.
Thanks
