Replication agent configuration

During default Replication agent configuration we specify the publish instance URL under transport tab in URI field whose value would be something like

"http://mypubliship:port/bin/receive?sling:authRequestLogin=1 "

What is the significance of "sling:authRequestLogin=1" in the above value, As test connection is successful without having sling:authRequestLogin=1 in the URI
