'Referral Keywords' - Segmentation

Avatar

Level 10

Does anyone have used or know how the segment trait 'referral keywords' works ?

refer: https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-1/administer/personalization/campaigns/segmentation.html

Also, it would be great if we can have little more briefing about all of these segment traits in the document.

Your understanding is correct. By default it works from google or any othersite because queryParameterName for keyword is q. Also keep into consideration many sites have custamized to change the queryParameterName to some thing else other than q.  In that case your use case might fail.

Segmentation helps to design your strategies of targeted content. All the documents at [1] should give you a complete picture. The 'referral keywords' is just another store property to help for decision which will be passed from reference site. Client-context   is best way to simulate...    I created small video for you to help complete flow in author side.  See if it helps to understand better.

Hey thanks for the video Sham !!

so basically I want to validate below my understanding

1. Create a 'referral keywords' target or segment

2. when a user lands on a page with the specific keyword from 'google' or any other search engine, respective teasers or content will be shown.

so the referral keywords are compared against the search words ?? or against what will that be evaluated ?

Yes, referral keywords will be compared against search keyword (which will automatically happen as part of segment resolution) and once it matched your segment will resolve. So you just have to define the search keywords in there.

Hi Lokesh

If you think the documentation is lacking details - please open a ticket on the docs and state what topic you are referring to and what information you would like to see there.
