I'm working on planning for our long term archive and its brought up a functionality question in AEM. I would like to accomplish the following use case but am not sure if AEM is capable. I would like to set up a property called Archive with a yes checkbox. When the box is not checked the asset is stored in active storage on the backend. When the status box is checked the asset is moved to glacier storage in the backend. So the asset stays in the same location in the DAM interface but the storage of it on the backend is dependent on the metadata in one of the properties.Does anyone know if this capability exists in AEM or if its on the roadmap?

This is surely innovative and interesting, How do you plan to restore the assets? (If this is a requirement) ? Are you on AMS, On Prem or AEM CS?
To get the correct/precise visibility on roadmap, you might want to open a customer support ticket
We are AES CS. I would like to restore them the same way I would download. Except for archived stuff there would be a message or popup or something that states it may take a day or 2 to download since its archived.

Interesting use case @dmescia2 . In one of my archival implementations we had to do custom implementation where we moved the archived assets to a separate area within DAM. This helps to ensure that it does not show up for content authors. If you are looking for an inplace archival you may also need some visual indicator and some way to filter those assets out for authors.
Thanks

I was very slow to open a ticket with support but one is currently open to see if this is something that might be able to be accomplished. I'll keep you posted.
