Optimizing the AEM Dispatcher by Optimizing the AEM Dispatcher

Abstract

After spending a lot of time getting an Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) environment together, the Dispatcher can sometimes be an afterthought. With all the variables and moving parts, a solid Dispatcher configuration is hard to achieve. And with its structure, it is easy to make small mistakes with large consequences. So, what can you do? Read on to find out.

Adobe has open sourced the Dispatcher Optimizer Tool (DOT) that parses and analyzes the Dispatcher configuration based on a set of extensible rules. It provides detailed information about the syntax errors it finds and configuration values that contradict best practices. It even includes the same scanning and analysis for the Apache Httpd configuration, if one is present. The findings are reported complete with file location and line number. Documentation links are included, explaining why the violations are important to fix, and how to fix them.
