Is AEM 6.5 license needed for test environment/instance?

Hi Everyone,

My understanding is that AEM license is needed for production and development environments. My company has the license for prod and dev. But do I need an AEM 6.5 license to install and set up a single instance in test server? If license is not needed for installing AEM in test server, how can this be done? Or what is the workaround to set up a test environment without the license?

Thanks,

Leena

This depends on the environment type.

Are you going to set up the test environment on OnPremise servers or AMS (Adobe Managed Service)

If it is on On-Premise - Customers may install and use a reasonable number of copies of the On-premise software versions of the licensed Managed Services in a development environment only, strictly for testing and quality assurance purposes only and not for production purposes.

I would like to setup the test environment on a single Desktop machine, server or VM, where just couple of developers can test/make changes to forms or configuration settings before making changes to the development environment. It is more for personal use, to test ideas without affecting the development environment.

You can use the existing development license file
