How to store a tab value in hidden variable while switching the tab in carousel?

Hi I want to add tab value or id in a hidden variable in carousel to maintain the tab state.

for example if first time user is opening tab1 then hidden variable value will be tab1

and if user is opening tab2 then hidden variable value will be tab2.
