Community: Likes do not show up

Avatar

Hi community

I just observed that on the main questions page, "likes" do not reflect the reality.

I have a like to first comment on this question Serve Images in Next-Gen Format i.e in WebP and AVIF  for example, and is not showing up on main page.

Hi,

AFAIK, the like button just displays the number of likes on the question itself, not on the answers provided to the question. For example, in the link you provided: https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-experience-manager/serve-images-in-next-gen-f..., there are 0 likes, which matches the number of likes on the main page.

You can still submit this as an idea/enhancement for its review.

Hope this helps.

@Tethich Thank you for sharing this with us. This like count only shows the link count for the main/parent thread.

I just double checked and found one example that is not doing that. I believe in the past it was showing likes for user who's logged in, not for the main question.

1.In the list of questions, I can see 3 likes:

2. Inside the question I can see no likes:

3. My comment thought has 3 likes

This is the question I am talking about: https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-experience-manager/where-to-find-skilled-aem-... . I just raised this question because I observed some changes in community app behavior lately. (Another for example for which I also posted a question was about Edit button not appearing to me)

@Tethic I’m sorry, but I’m not seeing what you're describing. When I look at the list of questions, I still see the '0' as the behavior we mentioned. However, the image you attached does not seem to be the main list of QA. I think it’s different because it has an initial 'RE:...' prefix. So, we might be talking about different things.

@Tethich , Could you please clarify where you found or viewed Image 1? Is it from your profile activity? In the profile activity, you can see the reply post and parent post.

Example:

kautuk_sahni_0-1732862043891.png

In the above Image, "1" is an example of a Reply Post (the child thread | Re: Prefix) whereas "2" is an example of a Parent Post (Without Prefix).

As mentioned by @EstebanBustamante  the image you shared represents a subthread (which you can verify by checking the prefix or by opening the link—it will direct you to that specific reply). Therefore, the like counts are accurate based on the thread you are observing.

Yes, image 1 is indeed from profile activity. Image 2 is where it takes you when you click link in profile activity, and it only takes you to main thread, which is not visible in your activity profile.

But, I was not aware the likes are based on the thread, either main or child. I thought it always shows likes relative to logged in user, no matter where you see the topic.

Thanks for clarifications.
