AEM entitlement and verifyEntitlement call

Hello all,

After migrating some content to AEM we noticed that the verifyEntitlement call is not being called anymore when a user requests a download, the entitlement process is working and users are able to view and download issues. On our custom entitlement server we use the /verifyEntitlement call to monitor and keep track of download requests per user.

Is this an expected behaviour? Can someone enlighten us on this?
