AEM 6.3 Upgrade: File Data Store vs Custom Data Store

I am reading the 6.3 Upgrade document: Upgrading to AEM 6.3

Question 1:

Under the Repository Migration command, it specifies different commands for "From AEM 6.x with TarMK with File Data Store" and "From AEM 6.x with TarMK with custom Data Store". What's the difference between File Data Store and Custom Data Store and how do I know which one I have on my current 6.1 servers? Is there a configuration which I can check to see if we are using File Data Store or Custom?

Question 2:

Configuring node stores and data stores in AEM 6  -- Here it talks about the new extension and PID in 6.3.

"If you upgrade from an older version of Oak, ensure that you make a backup of the crx-quickstart/install folder first. After the upgrade, restore the contents of the folder to the upgraded installation and modify the extension of the configuration files from .cfg to .config."

Currently we have two files in "install" folder:

1. org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.plugins.blob.datastore.FileDataStore.cfg

2. org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.plugins.segment.SegmentNodeStoreService.cfg >> this PID has been changed to org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.segment.SegmentNodeStoreService in AEM 6.3

As per above statement, do I need to remove (i.e. make a backup and delete) these two files before migration/upgrade? The upgrade document doesn't talk about these things. Can I get detailed steps here from anyone who has tried upgrading AEM 6.1 to AEM 6.3.

Thanks.
