adding and populating custom metadata properties in Metadata templates

I wanted to pre fill a custom metadata property for a set of assets in a particular folder. To solve this I started to learn about the Metadata Template feature in AEM. I could do this with the set of properties provided in the dialogue box when I create the metadata template. That dialogue box access those metadata properties from the path /libs/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems. When I tried to add my custom metadata property I overlayed this path in apps and created a custom metadata property on path /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems.

Now my custom metadata property will show up in the dialogue box during the creation of metadata template. But the extra added custom property would not persist its value when we check under our metadata template node under path /etc/dam/ingestion/templates.

Therefore, when I apply this metadata template to a folder it doesn't ask me to fill the value for the custom metadata property that I added.

Follow this blog and let us know if you are still having issues. This is a good document on how to work with this feature.

I have already gone through this blog, It talks about the basic metadata properties that are presented as options/checklists at step 2 when we create the metadata template.

I am facing issues while adding a custom metadata property into the metadata template.
