Not sure what that "category" is officially referred to, but it'd be nice to be able to switch the category, or family, or type of a content item. For example switch from a Banner to an Article, or from an Article to a collection...
I realize it would wipe out whatever was there before, but it would keep from deleting and rebuilding from scratch. I often will add Banners in a prototype for content that has not yet been built out. I'll add the proper internal keywords to ensure it receives the right card, has the right art, etc. But when I eventually replace that with the actual content, I need to rebuild, replace, re-associate in collections, all the work that I had already done. It'd be nice If I could just switch from a banner to a collection when I'm ready to.
