We would like to replace our web images with the google WebP format

https://developers.google.com/speed/webp

It would be great if webp could be supported in AEM Assets in near future.

Hi @sbluhm

Please note that currently there is an existing feature request for the same in AEMaaCS i.e. CQ-4306108

For on-prem version of AEM you can make use of imagemagick library:

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-manager-65/assets/extending/best-practices-for-im...
