I have recently run in to the problem where, after setting the resolution to 300 and unchecking resample, after saving, my files don't turn up in Photoshop as 300 dpi.
MY SOLUTION
To fix this problem I went to Save as> saved as a .TIF file> Compressed to JPG.
and it showed up as 300 dpi!
