Migrating from Adobe Campaign v7 (or earlier) to v8, or even jumping to AJO, and sometimes feels like a raffle. You prepare everything… but you’re never 100% sure how smooth it will be.
From what I’ve seen, many customers forget some of the big advantages with v8:
-It’s available as a Managed Cloud Service.
-It runs on a hybrid architecture.
-It introduces full federated data access, a game-changer for working with data at scale.
And yet, the hardest parts aren’t always technical:
- Data foundations → if your model isn’t clear and audiences aren’t stitched, migrations get messy.
- Organizational alignment → setup is easy; getting approvals from different teams and buy-in is not.
- Mindset shift → v8 and AJO bring new interfaces, new workflows, and the challenge of true adoption.
Some solutions, that I've seen that work well:
- Define a clear roadmap.
- Prioritize countries or business units to phase rollouts and keep it going.
- Don't forget to test, test, test to avoid unexpected surprises.
- Remember: AJO business cases will always differ from those of Campaign.
