Tracking code - Landing page --> redirects to login screen ( need to track)

Avatar

Level 1

We would like to track the visitors with the help of tracking code on sub domains of a website.

example - when a user redirecting to registration page ( where tracking code is not implemented)  from previous page xyz, we don't want to lose the value of the tracking code from page XYZ  to registration page.
(same session --> keep track of users, necessity to keep track of campaign, different domain will not carry the tracking code.)

* what will be the ideal solution to the query above?

Hi @SanyaTh1

whoever is performing the redirect should ideally also make sure that the original URL with its query parameters remains intact when the user shall be redirected back after his login.

The best would probably be to check with your IT department. Sometimes, the URL where the user got redirected to (in your case the login page URL) contains a query param with the URL where the user shall be redirected to once he successfully logs in.

Example:

Cheers from Switzerland!

Thanks for the quick response !
But, the tracking code is not set for the login URL -  we need to keep track of users, its a necessity to keep track of campaign, although different domain will not carry the tracking code.
But I assume, due to the persistence nature of tracking code, it will be stitched once that user comes back to the main website. Original code will persist.

Hi bjoern,

The case is the domains are different, where the visitor is hopping from one to the other, which is not the sub-domain, do you think this would work?
