Does anyone know what is the "Enable Japanese Keyword Processing" option under  configure new report suite settings.

Morning, @skala18

good question, the documentation doesn't really seem to explain this setting yet.

I can only imagine that this is referring to the multibyte character support for Asian languages such as Japanese and Chinese, where setting a UTF-8 s.charSet is required to properly store the incoming data. At least the position in the settings suggests that it replaces the previous option. But maybe the wording is not really clear.

if your website does not serve Asian content, it should not be required to be set.

Curious what the others have to say.

@Jennifer_Dungan, your two cents?

I agree with @bjoern__koth, I looked up website encoding, and it seems that about 95% of Japanese websites use UTF-8 encoding, but I imagine that this setting just helps enable better handling for Japanese glyphs? Since our sites don't use Asian characters (unless you count people using in-browser translation software), it's not a setting that I've used. If your sites aren't using Japanese, I would just leave that unchecked....

The "Enable Japanese Keyword Processing" setting is used to properly determine if Japanese search engines are providing referrers in SHIFT_JIS or EUC_JP character sets, thus it is critical to be enabled for sites that have referrers from Japanese search engines. There is no direct documentation for the same, but as far as I know this is what this setting does.
