How to use an eVar in a calculated Metric

I feel like I'm going crazy and I really hope that I'm just missing something obvious.

  • We have are using Adobe Analytics to track activity on our employee web-based software.
  • Our employees work in over 7000 stores around the world.
  • We want to know what percentage of our stores are using our software each day.
  • We have an eVar for unique Store ID (for each user).
  • We have another eVar for total number of active stores (captured at the start of each session).
  • We want to create a calculated metric that calculates the percentage of hotels that use our software.
  • It doesn't matter how much usage or what the users were doing. If even a single staff member logs in, that store was active on that day.

Trouble is, when I go to create this calculated metric, it doesn't let me plug in the evar for Total Stores. So instead, I've been manually updating the store count every time. This seems really bad to me. What am I missing?

Hi @David_HaskinsCC ideally it should work without manually editing the metric. Have you considered creating a segment for each of the eVars mentioned above?

For example, Store ID(visits) / Total number of active stores (visits)

Thank you very much. I set up a test for this but could not figure out how to make it work. When I try to add both segments to my calculated metric, only one of them shows up in the available segments list.

I added the segment for StoreID. No problem.

But when I try to add the segment for Active Stores, it doesn't display in the segment list. It displays when I'm looking at my project. But when I open the calculated metric to edit it, the Active Store segment is not listed for some reason. For both Segments I used the Exists option.

@David_HaskinsCC can you share the 'Active Stores' segment logic? You can also verify if the segment was successfully created by viewing all existing segments as shown in the screenshot below.
